Can you describe your approach to therapy and the specific modalities you use?
I think of therapy as a collaboration between myself and each client, and my goal is to provide a safe and empathetic space for self discovery, healing and change. I am a trauma informed therapist specializing in complex trauma as well as religious trauma and deconstruction. I spent the majority of my life in the south, and I have personal experience with evangelical culture and the challenges one faces when wrestling with questions of faith and spirituality. From the research we know that trauma stays within the body until it is able to be integrated and discharged, and this goes beyond talking through and cognitively processing the trauma and experiences. I have found that somatic therapy and parts work therapy can be very helpful with integrating those experiences and helping to heal from trauma.
